In Ego Draconis, Damien is a villain who was banished during the final parts of game one. He has now returned to Rivellon and is out for vengeance on all those who forced his imprisonment during the first game. Damien works by enslaving the Dragon Knights. The Dragon Knights are powerful humans who can shape-shift into dragons when they want. The Dragon Slayers appear when the Dragon Knights begin to destroy the world of Rivellon as a way to remove the evil from the world. You are the newest Dragon Slayer.

To learn the game, a tutorial is available in the initial town, Farglow. The tutorial gives you the chance to learn more about your abilities, how you can communicate with the spirits and read the thoughts of others. You can spend as long as you wish in the tutorial and will have a mentor to help you. You can decide when you are ready to start the game and you will then be informed of a dragon in Broken Valley. It is up to you and your fellow Dragon Slayers to defeat the dragon, where you will take part in various events along the way. When you reach the fallen knight, you will receive her powers. You become the hunted while being the hunter. You gain more powers throughout the game as you attempt to hunt and capture Damien.

The Game Play

The character you play will be class-less, which gives you the ability to mix skills together. You can really take on a great role in this action-packed game. You have the ability to use spells from various characters, such as the mage, priest, ranger and warrior. You build your levels during the game, which increases your stats throughout so you have enough support for each of the challenges you face. As you build your skills, you will soon find that the game is exciting and addictive. It is impossible to put down the controller and step away!

As well as learning the skills of a Dragon Slayer, after roughly 12 hours of game play, you will gain the abilities of a dragon, where you gain more skills. Dragons have their own special spells and skills, which you have to learn. You will have the ability to fly but cannot just fly anywhere around the game – there are specific areas to make the game more challenging. You can have fun just turning into a dragon by jumping off a high height. At this stage, you have access to a Battle Tower. This is where all your brew potions, training gear and extra items are stored. You can construct a battle training area or a battle pet to help you with the harder challenges in the game.

Summary

It is so much fun playing the game. Even the beginning is fun, learning the controls and finding out everything you can do; although, upgrading the gear and getting past the basic stages makes it more fun. The game is definitely one that draws you in and holds your attention the whole time. There are always new challenges around the corner and you develop new skills on a regular basis.

Divinity II: Ego Draconis is available on the PC and Xbox 360 and there are some major differences between the two. However, the differences make it worth having both of the games and they are so much fun. The graphics are also excellent and pull you into the world. There are some kinks in the game – but what game doesn’t have these? The rating for the game is still definitely high and it is definitely one that you should try, if just for the fun element.
